SpareBank 1 is an alliance of cooperating Norwegian savings banks. The alliance is organized through the company SpareBank 1 Gruppen AS which is owned by the participating banks. As a group it is Norway's second largest bank with total assets of NOK 625 billion, 352 branches and 6300 employees. The alliance has its head office in Oslo, Norway. The banks in the SpareBank 1 alliance distribute SpareBank 1 Gruppen’s products and collaborate in key areas such as brands, work processes, expertise development, IT operations and system development.
Business Challenge
The main business challenge was to develop an application that will enable SP1 clients to:
- Provide easy access to the banking;
- Check the balance on the current accounts;
- Overview the last transactions on each account;
- Pay bills;
- Transfer funds between their accounts;
- Check incoming electronic invoices (eFaktura);
- Make changes to the list of future payments; set up SMS alerts;
- Make insurance claims.
Another point was that SB1 needed to increase brand visibility and customer loyalty especially in the young, urban demographics. Also SB1 required a solution which would provide a superior mobile user experience for banking services.
